Alaska Expedition – Summer 2020

In the summer of 2020, I embarked on a breathtaking journey through rugged Alaska with a dedicated group of photographers. Our adventure began with a helicopter flight from Juneau, transporting us into some of the most pristine and remote wilderness areas the state has to offer.

We established camps in five distinct locations, many perched on ridges overlooking massive glaciers. Each campsite was chosen thoughtfully, often beside flowing streams or rivers, providing both serene ambiance and essential water sources. Our stays ranged from two to three days per site, with helicopter transfers connecting each camp.

Life at the camps was a true back-to-nature experience. We carried in our daily provisions and cooked meals over open flames, connecting with the environment in an elemental way. Days were spent exploring Alaska’s striking terrain—scaling rocky outcrops, venturing into ice caves, and navigating pristine wilderness trails.

Our routine was as disciplined as it was inspiring. Each morning, we rose early to hike to vantage points and compose our shots for the spectacular sunrises unique to this northern latitude. After capturing the morning light, we returned to camp to rest and refuel with lunch. Afternoons were devoted to long hikes and scouting locations for sunset photography—moments that never failed to amaze. Evenings concluded back at camp with dinner and a well-earned rest.

This expedition was one of my most memorable photographic journeys. The images I captured remain vivid reminders not only of Alaska’s stunning natural beauty but also of the emotions the experience evoked. I invite you to explore some of my favorite scenes from this remarkable adventure here on this page. I hope you find the same inspiration in them as I did behind the lens.
